FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT DETERMINING THE TRUTH
BUSINESS AND POLITICAL ALLIANCES - Does Christian participation in Mormon financial or political alliances compromise the Christian faith?
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) is actively seeking ways to present itself to the public as another denomination within Christianity. One of the ways it is pursuing this goal is by encouraging Mormons to participate in business, political, and religious alliances with mainline Christian groups. When such invitations from Mormons are presented to evangelical Christians, it is often given in an attempt to gain legitimacy in Christian circles. When such occasions arise, what questions can we ask to evaluate whether or not these opportunities compromise the Christian faith?Read more
IS THE "SPIRIT" OF MORMONISM TRUE BECAUSE IT CONFESSES JESUS HAS COME IN THE FLESH?
1 JOHN 4:2-3; 2 JOHN 7: "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist.... For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist."

.: DOES THE HOLY GHOST ANSWER PRAYER FOR THE BOOK OF MORMON TESTIMONY?
“I was browsing the Internet when I came across your site. Sounds informative, but I have a question on this statement you made. In your article on Mormon Splinter Groups, the following question was asked: ‘Since all of these movements base their authority on the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith, how can a ‘testimony’ gained through praying about the Book of Mormon be sufficient to prove which church of all of these movements one should join?’ I am curious to know whether you believe in prayers being answered by God. I don’t know if it would prove anything, but I believe God answers prayers, and if He said it was true then it must be true, and if He said it wasn’t then it is not true. One thing I do believe in also is the Holy Ghost. He is known as the Comforter, a Testifier. If I can’t feel comfort, I don’t know how the Holy Ghost can get to me in helping to comfort me. So, in this way, I do believe that the Spirit of God can communicate with our spirits through a feeling since we cannot see Him. What do you believe?”Read more
.:OUR RESPONSE TO A MORMON CONCERN: “BLIND FOOLS! YOU HAD A TESTIMONY! WHY DON’T YOU ALL COME HOME?!”
“Blind faith, brain washing, catchy songs. You are all fools! Your ambivalent clichés on Mormonism are neither founded nor respected. Chuck, if you truly were at one time Mormon, why were you such a push over? Don’t you know part of the faith is to question the norm and challenge the truth? You tormented soul! Your angry and victimized tale is hardly proper indignation for a religion that didn’t bring you happiness.
I wonder how you managed to stay in as long as you did. Let me guess, the Christian faith has somehow brought happiness you could never find in being the “worker Bee” Mormon? Well, continue your fable life of blindness and enjoy your new faith. Your slander and condemnation only strengthen the one and only true Church that has been brought forth in “these latter days!”
I cannot believe you would be so foolish as to imply that the Bible is the only true source of God over the Book of Mormon. How can you say, “A book! A book! I have a book and it contains the word of God!” on the one hand, but on the other, you denounce the latter-day miracles of its author? Where did you get that book in the first place? Was it not from the mouth of a Jew? Who are you that you would question the witnesses of God? Could there not be more than one book from God?
I testify to you, sir, that there is more than one, or the Bible would lack credibility and your “God’s word” would not be believed. Witnesses come in two’s and three’s. Surely you can remember that! I beckon you, Chuck, return your tired spirit home so that you may again find peace in the happiness of the true and only gospel! I wish you well, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!”Read more
.:I BEAR YOU MY TESTIMONY THAT THE LDS CHURCH IS NOT TRUE. - OUR REPLY TO A MORMON TESTIMONY:
A MORMON BEARS HIS TESTIMONY:
“I respect individuals who are determined in their beliefs and their love for Jesus and his gospel, because I find myself in that same path. So, I hope that you don’t regard me as part of a ‘counterfeit Christianity’ by being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know for an absolute surety that it is the only entity on this earth that has all of the saving ordinances necessary to inherit eternal life. To know Jesus is to serve him, to do as he did and to listen to his prophets.
I belong to THE Church of Jesus Christ. I have prayed earnestly to know the truth of the things I have so diligently searched, and God in his infinite wisdom and love shared His truth with me through the power of the Holy Ghost. Nothing can take this knowledge from me, for it is knowledge and not faith. I am past faith on this. Faith is hoping for things that you have not seen, but knowing is having a validation by the power of the Holy Ghost that what you have had faith in is true. It is validated!Read more
.:OUR RESPONSE TO: “WHY DON’T YOU GET YOUR OWN TESTIMONY OF THE MORMON CHURCH?”
“Chuck, you had a problem from the start when you said, ‘We just did it because everyone else was doing it.’ You need to have your own testimony! As a recent convert to the Mormon Church, I understand where you are coming from with how different the LDS Church is from other Churches, but that is because the Church is blessed with the priesthood and a holy Prophet of God. As a convert, I had the opportunity to take Moroni’s promise. I know that some kids who grow up in the Church overlook Moroni’s promise as they grow up and just do things because their families have a testimony of the gospel. Remember that when you take Moroni’s challenge, you must do it with an absolute sincerity in your heart. As I was fortunate enough to be able to know of the gospel, unlike billions who have been or are one the earth today, I started the unwavering foundation of my testimony. I know the Church is True and is led by Christ through our beloved Prophet. I know that Joseph Smith restored the True Church which stands today as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with sincere fervent prayer. I hope you can find these things to be true for yourself. The testimonies of others can only take you so far.”Read more
