How can I meet Ex-Mormons in my area?

exldsmeetup.: HOW CAN I MEET EX-MORMONS IN MY AREA?

“I recently left the Mormon Church and I miss the fellowship I had with my friends and family in the Church. How can I meet other Ex-Mormons in my area who understand what I am going through?”

OUR RESPONSE:

Dear friend,

You must feel so lonely. It is hard to leave the LDS Church, not only because you lose the spiritual and emotional friends and family support you received in the Church, but also because you face many fears, doubts, and confusing thoughts as you work to reevaluate everything you had been taught as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The loss of this spiritual identity can be one of the hardest aspects of leaving to overcome. Continue reading How can I meet Ex-Mormons in my area?

How to remove your name from the LDS Chuch’s membership records

LDS Temple

.:HOW TO REMOVE YOUR NAME FROM THE LDS CHURCH’S MEMBERSHIP RECORDS

If you want to have your name removed from the LDS Church’s membership records, you must make your letter strong and to the point.  Although some may feel that this type of approach is too harsh, we have learned that if you do not make it forceful in this manner, they will delay your request and harass you as to your reasons for leaving with the hopes of getting you to change your mind. We know it works, and anyone wanting to remove their name can use the following format and sample letter.  Many people are afraid to be this stern, but it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!  Below is a copy of the cover information that one Ex-Mormon couple used to remove their names from the LDS Church’s records. They testified that when they used this format:

“We received a response before the 30 days were up and a letter stating that our names had been removed, but they wanted to make that sure we knew what we were doing because it would jeopardize our eternal salvation, and they would be more than happy to have us return to the church.  What a joke.  We are happy to be free at last!” Continue reading How to remove your name from the LDS Chuch’s membership records

.:JESUS CHRIST – OUR SAVIOR

Mormon.org states:

“The first principle of the gospel is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Having faith in Christ… means believing that He is the Son of God and that He suffered for your sins, afflictions, and infirmities. When you have faith in Christ, you accept and apply His Atonement and His teachings… Having faith causes you to try as hard as you can to learn about and become more like your SaviorThrough repentance, the second principle of the gospel, you change thoughts, desires, habits, and actions that are not in harmony with God’s teachings… To repent, youStop sinning and strive never to commit sin again…” Continue reading Jesus Christ

.:APOSTASY – THE GREAT APOSTASY

Under the “The Restoration of Truth – The Great Apostasy” section of mormon.org we read:

“Following the death of Jesus Christ… The Apostles were killed and the priesthood authority—including the keys to direct and receive revelation for the Church—was taken from the earth (2 Thessalonians 2:1–3). Because the Church was no longer led by priesthood authority and revelation, error crept into Church teachings. Good people and much truth remained, but the gospel as established by Jesus Christ was lost, resulting in a period called the Great Apostasy. Continue reading Apostasy

.:THE PROPHETS OF GOD – HEAVENLY FATHER REVEALS HIS GOSPEL TO ALL

In the section entitled, “Heavenly Father Reveals His Gospel to All” under “The Restoration of Truth” of mormon.org, the website describes the concept that God’s people need prophets to lead them today as they did in the past. .:GOD OUR FATHER – GOD IS YOUR LOVING HEAVENLY FATHER

The first section of the Mormon Church’s website is entitled “Restoration of Truth.” Mormonism teaches that all other churches of Christianity possess only part of God’s truth while the Mormon Church is the only Christian church that possesses the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thus, we will spend the majority of our review of the LDS Church’s website examining this section. The first page in this “Restoration of Truth” section of the 2007 mormon.org website, under the section entitled, “God is Your Loving Heavenly Father” they state: Continue reading God Our Father

Marriage (Genesis 2:18) and family (Genesis 1:28) are central focal points in God’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. Your Heavenly Father wants you to do all you can during your time on Earth to prepare yourself to live in an eternal family.”

Mormon Baptism for the Dead

ldsbaptism.: Is Baptism for the Dead a Christian Practice?

1 CORINTHIANS 15:29: “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? Why are they then baptized for the dead?”

MORMON POSITION:

Latter-day Saints (Mormons) believe that water baptism by immersion “is the first saving ordinance of the gospel….All who seek eternal life must follow the example of the Savior by being baptized and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.”(True to the Faith, 2004, p. 21) Baptism, according to Mormonism, is the prerequisite to receiving the “gift of the Holy Ghost” and is a necessary step in the process of being exalted to the highest level of heaven. Believing that non-Mormon dead relatives will have an opportunity to receive the Mormon “restored gospel” in “spirit prison,” Latter-day Saints take it upon themselves to help “save” them by engaging in proxy baptism on behalf of their dead ancestors. Mormon Apostle Bruce R McConkie explains:

“…though held captive in the spirit prison, these prisoners of hope looked forward with desire and expectation to their redemption…a redemption that would be complete only after baptism for the dead had been performed for them in this mortal sphere where there is water.”—Mormon Doctrine, p. 601 Continue reading Mormon Baptism for the Dead
