1 Nephi 13 claims that after the Bible went “forth by the hand of the twelve apostles,” a “great and abominable church”—interpreted by many as the early Catholic Church—removed many “plain and precious” truths from the gospel. But is that accusation historically accurate? The Book of Mormon admits the Bible was pure when it left the apostles’ hands, yet it claims it was later corrupted by the Church. This video examines that claim in light of manuscript history and Jesus’ own words in Matthew 24:35: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” If Jesus promised His Word would be preserved, how can the Book of Mormon say it was altered? And if the Catholic Church never had access to all biblical manuscripts, how could it possibly rewrite the entire gospel? Join us as we explore whether the Bible was corrupted—or whether the Book of Mormon’s accusations simply don’t hold up.
