Kevin is a well-known street preacher who often raises his voice at Mormon events, boldly warning people that their doctrines can lead them away from salvation. While his direct approach can be abrasive, it opens doors for meaningful conversations when approached with care. This year, Kevin stopped by our table and began talking with people who had come to discuss spiritual questions with us.
One conversation, in particular, was a powerful example of God working through unexpected circumstances. A woman struggling with abuse in her marriage initially felt turned off by Kevin’s street-preaching, yet she stayed to speak with him personally. During their conversation, Kevin was able to gently challenge her on Mormon doctrinal beliefs and also provide a listening ear as she shared her personal struggles.
Even though only a small portion of the discussion was captured, the interaction planted seeds of truth, demonstrating the importance of dialogue, patience, and reliance on God’s Word in reaching hearts. As the Bible reminds us: “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one” (Colossians 4:6) and “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:6).
This story highlights that, even in difficult conversations, God can use honest dialogue to reveal truth, encourage reflection, and bring hope to those wrestling with both doctrinal confusion and personal hardship.
