What’s the real difference between Mormon worship and Christian worship?
On the surface, worship in both Mormon and Christian settings might look similar—singing hymns, gathering in a chapel or church, and listening to sermons. But when we look closely at the heart of worship, the difference is profound. True Christian worship focuses entirely on Jesus Christ—His sacrifice, His love, and His eternal power (John 4:24; Colossians 1:16–20). It points believers to the one Mediator between God and humanity, Jesus Himself (1 Timothy 2:5), rather than on human leaders or traditions.
In contrast, worship in the LDS (Mormon) Church often emphasizes prophets, church leaders, and historical pioneers, elevating them alongside or even above Christ in practice (Matthew 23:8–10 warns against elevating human leaders). While hymns may sound similar, the subjects of praise reveal a different focus: Christ-centered worship glorifies God, while Mormon worship can shift attention toward human figures.
