The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims to accept the Bible “as far as it is translated correctly.” Yet this statement raises a critical question: if the Bible is truly corrupted, why hasn’t the LDS Church fully corrected it — especially through prophets who claim ongoing revelation? Joseph Smith attempted a so-called “translation” of the Bible, but it was never completed or officially adopted. Meanwhile, the LDS Church continues to cast doubt on Scripture while elevating its own writings, such as the Book of Mormon, as authoritative.
The Bible, however, promises that God’s Word is preserved and trustworthy. Jesus Himself declared, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35). Psalm 12:6-7 affirms, “The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever.” God’s Word is complete, reliable, and sufficient for guiding faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
By selectively accepting Scripture and promoting additional texts, Mormonism opens the door for doctrinal contradictions and human additions, contrary to the biblical warning: “If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book” (Revelation 22:18). Altering or dismissing God’s Word undermines the very foundation of truth and places human authority above divine authority.
This video examines the LDS Church’s selective approach to Scripture, contrasts it with the Bible’s promises of preservation, and challenges viewers to consider why trusting God’s Word alone is essential. True faith rests not on human reinterpretation or additional scriptures, but on the unchanging Word of God, fully preserved and sufficient for salvation and spiritual life.
“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” (Proverbs 30:5).
